Recliner Cushion Support Board for a Sagging Seat
The chair is fine. The seat underneath the cushion is not. Recliners take the same person in the same spot every night, so the webbing under that one cushion gives out long before anything else on the chair does. You end up sitting lower than you used to, and pushing yourself back up out of it takes more than it should.
This board goes under the cushion and gives it something solid to land on. Nothing is screwed, cut, glued or attached to the chair. Lift the cushion, lay it flat on the deck, put it back. About a minute, no tools.
What you are actually getting
- 0.5" solid wood panels. Not foam. Foam compresses again within months, which is how the seat went soft in the first place.
- Holds 400 lb across the product, and over 280 lb on a single board.
- Bound fabric cover with finished edges. Bare wood never touches your upholstery, and the edges will not chafe fabric or leather the way a raw board does.
- The cushion sits on it, not slides off it. The fabric surface gives the cushion something to grip, so you are not straightening it every evening.
- Folds flat to ship and opens across the whole seat. If your chair sits at the short end of a size range, the end panels tuck under rather than forcing you up a size.
- Completely hidden. Once the cushion is back nobody knows it is there, and it does not raise the seat height noticeably.

Two sizes, and which one you need
Measure with the cushion off. You want the bare deck it was resting on, not the cushion, because cushions always overhang the frame and measuring those sends you a size too big.
- 20" to 23" wide covers most standard recliners and armchairs.
- 30" to 32" wide is for the wider models, oversized recliners and chair-and-a-half seats.
Both are 19.7" deep. If your number falls between the two, take the smaller one. A board that overhangs the deck will not sit flat. And if your chair is at the short end of a range, you can fold a panel back at each end rather than going down a size.
Before you order, read this part
Recliners are not all built the same underneath. Most have a flat deck under the cushion and the board drops straight in. Some have the reclining mechanism sitting high in the seat area, or a footrest linkage that folds back into that space, and on those there may not be room for a board without the chair catching when it closes. Look under your cushion first. If you are not sure what you are looking at, send us a photo and we will tell you straight.
Honest about what it does not do
This helps when the support underneath the cushion has gone soft, which is the usual cause. It will not rescue a cracked frame or a broken recliner mechanism, and it will not make a thin, worn-out cushion thick again. It makes the seat firm and level, which for most people is the whole problem.
It also makes the seat firmer than it was. Most people are looking for exactly that. If you like sinking into your chair, this is not for you.

Before purchasing this item my body would sink so low into my couch because the springs supporting the cushions were so bent down from YEARS of use and kids jumping on the couch. The cushions would also eventually slide out. I could have bought a new couch but my kids are still small so not yet.. this support is wonderful and my back feels great the slcushions dont slide off either!

I rarely write reviews, but this product is really great. I have an expensive Pottery Barn couch with very comfortable down-filled cushions. Over the past 5 years, my butt has worn a very persistent trough into the chaise section where I always sit to watch TV. Although I wrestle that huge cushion back into shape every night, it always defeats me and goes back to having a large butt-shaped divot. Not anymore! I couldn’t be happier or more comfortable now.

I’m not gonna beat around the bush. I’m a skeptic about stuff like this. With that said I would 100% recommend these. My sectional couch is a little saggy in spots. I don’t really have a lot of extra money at the moment to go and buy a new couch. These are absolutely worth the money, no more sagging, it feels like it’s new again. Super firm and so far my cushions are staying put. I highly recommend giving these a try if your couch is starting to sag.

Measure the seating depth (front to back) and the inside width of your sofa.

If your sofa depth is larger than the product depth, it will still fit.
If your sofa width is between two sizes, choose the larger one you can easily adjust by closing the gaps between the boards to get a perfect fit.
