What does this product do?
It sits under your seat cushions and gives them a firm, even base to rest on. When the webbing or springs underneath have stretched out, the cushions have nothing solid to land on, and you sink. The board puts that support back.
How do I know which size to order?
You do not have to work it out yourself. Pick your furniture in the size finder and it shows you the ranges we make, as buttons. Choose the one your seat falls into and it does the matching.
It is worth the extra minute to get this right. The board is at its best sitting fully on the deck, arm to arm, with nothing reaching past the front edge, because that is what spreads your weight evenly across the whole seat. Measure the bare deck, round down to the nearest half inch, and if you would like a person to confirm it, send us the numbers before you order.
What is covered by the warranty?
The board itself, for as long as you own it. If it cracks, splits, or the panels come apart, we replace it free. Send us a photo and we will send a new one. You keep the old one, there is nothing to ship back. A warranty card comes in the box. This covers faults in the product, not damage from something else happening to it.
Does it go under or inside the cushion?
Under. It rests on the seat base of the sofa, with the cushions on top of it.
Will it be visible after installation?
No. It is sized to sit inside the seat area and disappear under the cushions, and it does not raise the seat height noticeably. Confirming your measurement before you order is what keeps it that way.
Is it easy to install?
Yes. No tools. Lift the cushions off, lay the board flat on the deck, put the cushions back. About a minute.
What is it made of?
Half-inch solid wood support panels wrapped in a protective fabric cover. All the support comes from the wood inside. The fabric keeps it off your upholstery and helps the board stay put.
How much weight does it hold?
400 lb across the product, and over 280 lb on a single board.
Can I use it on a sectional?
Yes. Measure both sections separately, the long run and the chaise, since they are usually different depths. The size finder will tell you if you need two pieces.
Will this work for extra deep seats?
Yes, as long as you pick the matching depth. We go up to 30 inches deep.
Can it fix a very old or badly damaged sofa?
It helps when the problem is soft support underneath the cushions, which is the usual cause. It will not rescue a cracked frame or snapped springs. If you are not sure which one you have, send us a photo of the bare deck and we will tell you straight.
Will it work on a sofa bed?
It helps with the sag, but it will not fully cancel out the folding mechanism underneath. Go in expecting an improvement rather than a fix.
Does it slide around?
Installed under the cushions at the right size, it stays put in normal use. The fabric surface gives the cushions something to grip, so they stop drifting toward the middle as well.
Do I need to replace my cushions too?
Usually not. Most people find the cushions were never the problem, they just had nothing solid under them. If your cushions are thin and worn right through, this will not make them thick again.
Will the edges damage my upholstery?
No. The cover is bound with finished edges so bare wood never touches fabric or leather, and the corners are rounded. This is the thing customers who tried bare plywood first mention most.
Can it help with back discomfort from a sinking seat?
Many customers tell us a firm, level seat is easier on their back than a seat they sink into, and easier to get out of. It is a comfort product, not a medical device, and we would not claim more than that.
What if I am between two ranges?
Take the smaller one. It sits fully inside the seat area, which is where you get firm, even support right across the seat, and the panel gaps can be closed up to bring a slightly narrow one in. If you would rather have someone confirm it, send us the numbers first.
Will it make the seat too firm?
It makes the seat firmer than it is now, which is the whole point. Most people are looking for exactly that. If you like sinking into your sofa, this is not for you, and we would rather say so here than have you send it back.
How long does delivery take?
